Okay, actually, we’ve been back – I just haven’t gotten around to pointing that out here yet.
Long story short, last fall Craig came out to California for grad school, and Serious DJs has been playing a happy hour in San Francisco monthly, with Tim “Tones” Jones and his Sockpuppet Soundsystem. (We keep meaning to announce when we’re doing these gigs, since it’s a weekly and we’re not there every week, but we usually only have a week’s notice or so. We also keep forgetting to record our sets.)
At any rate, we’ve got some exciting plans, and we’re working on a new top-secret studio mix. Until that’s ready, here’s a mix we never properly posted.
Last summer, Alex made a surprise trip back to DC to wish me well on my birthday, and to distract me while others set up a surprise party, we did this mix. The best part is unquestionably the blend at the end – we could not stop laughing every time the chorus dropped.
Enjoy, and keep checking back (or stay on that RSS) for more soon!

Bittersweet: a hot new mix, and some somewhat sad news (for you, at least). First, the mix.

We got together to do this mix, had a couple beers, and decided to pull out all the stops. There’s rap bangers, club jams, you name it. It gets a little sloppy towards the end, but you know what? Fuck it.

Now, the news. Alex is moving to San Francisco, and I’m staying here in DC. What this means for Serious DJs is not that we’re breaking up, but we are going to be on an extended hiatus of a sort. Hopefully over the summer I’ll go visit and we’ll throw down like old times.
As for the future, I’m going to keep on keepin’ on. Expect to continue seeing solo mixes from me here, and additionally, check out my new netlabel, Melt Records.
Alex says:
It’s true: work is taking me across the country, and I’m going to miss mixing like it’s an old friend (not to mention missing my old friends). I make no guarantees about doing solo mixes but I’m hoping to find the time. I’ll be scouting out locations for Craig and I to DJ in SF, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we’ve got some live sessions up here. Believe!
So that’s it for now! I feel like we’ve had a pretty good run, and while I’m going to miss Alex, I know he’s moving on to some good shit on the west side, so it’s all good.
